The Phantom of the Opera is there...

The chandelier

...in the West End.

Tom loves a musical, but he'd never seen Phantom of the Opera. Hard to believe when it's been running for over 30 years - the second longest-running in Theatreland. So, on a whim, we booked tickets for a Saturday matinee performance.

We were in Row C, which was actually the second row; and what great seats they were. We could literally look into the eyes of the cast as they delivered their lines. I don't think I've ever been as close before.

What's incredible is that a show that has been running as long as it has is still able to fill seats. Some say it hasn't aged well and feels very 80s. We didn't get that at all. Perhaps it's because the 80s are in vogue. Perhaps it's because we know the songs. Whatever the reason, we loved it and both left excited and signing the iconic melody for the rest of the afternoon.
